YouTube had a meetup in New York City. It’s interesting to see how YouTube is revolutionizing television. Do you think the stars of YouTube should stay online and move to Television?

GCS Is such an Quixote place for interviews.

That was a bit spectacular. The interviews were sprightlier than anything we’ve seen out of Pop17, and the edits seemed a bit tighter. It’s energetic, and I guess that reflects the nature of YouTube. These are content creators who do it for the love of it, and their enthusiasm is reflected in their responses. I missed this gathering, but I’ll have to run out to the next New York one; it looks like it was a blast.

    J. Rabbitte, it was the best day of my life! No joke… I had such a great time with my friends and everyone was so great. I loved the interviews and enthusiasm of the group. We all went out to dinner after.

That’s a ringing endorsement right there! All right, I have to hit up the next one. I’ll head over with my camera and document the whole thing (when I’m not being ridiculous). It’ll be my mission to get you interviewed, Sarah.

You were beaming! I think that if TV is what they eventually aspire to, more power to them. I think the online fans will expect the same personalities tho, and if TV execs push too hard for them to be someone else to appease the masses, they may see core fans leaving. What makes online stuff so great is that it is produced by the creator and not the network higher-ups. That makes for great and unique viewing that you can not get elsewhere.

Plus, they can control every aspect of how they come off. TV may make them look worse. All this reality TV business tries to make people look dramatic. It’s not even real. But is this real? I think people want real.

I like it real. The drama in some of the reality TV shows are really off putting. They think that is what the viewers want. What channel is CurrentTV on, I do not have cable.

  13. sarah October 29th, 2008 at 12:11 am

People say the YouTube people are odd just because they are not geeky like twitter or flickr. Do you only like geeks or something?

  18. sarah October 29th, 2008 at 12:45 pm

Michael! Thanks so much for coming on my show. The enthusiasm of YouTube is what I love and the growing community is so inclusive. No one tries to make you feel like you don’t belong.

I bet Hollywood will try to make a bunch of shows with YouTube personalities.
