Jake Jarvis on his Facebook App Aquisition

Story Links:
Jake Jarvis was nice enough to give me an interview about his Facebook application, courses, in Austin, Texas at SXSW.
He just sold it to Cramster! This is big news for a 16 year old.

This interview was interesting, BUT it was also extremely awkward. Sarah, you must have had a long weekend because you seemed REALLY out of it during this interview :)
mmmmmmk
@Tyler, I was sick in that interview. You found me out! I wanted to interview Jake so badly that I just went for it. I’m feeling better today though!
Amazing feat for 16 yrs old; or any age.
good job Sarah! You know how to relate to the person you are interviewing. Keeps me coming back all the time.
Good job Sarah.
Sarah-
you’re doing great… please don’t take offense if someone gives you constructive feedback.
You got people watchin you.
I wish you could have gotten a HINT of how much he sold for… 6 figures?
Keep up the good work!
To interview people in the tech industry you need to know the tech lingo. I’m not trying to be mean, but I think the interview would have been more exciting Sarah if you could delve deeper into technical specifics. You’re a pop princess talking to the geek in high school, and everyone knows that they didn’t get along in high school.
I could get more nitty gritty in the edit. We did talk about how he made it, what it does and it’s features, but I decided to edit that part out.
It’s a show about people so I’m trying to focus on that.
Do you guys want more techy details or more personal details?
x, Sarah
Sarah, I think you should aim for the process (not the technical part, but the big picture). Imagine you have a viewer who wants to know how some ordinary 16 year old goes from zero to hero, so the viewer can do the same.
This leads to a whole line of questioning: How did you come up with the idea? What were your biggest obstacles? What advice do you have for someone who would like to duplicate your success? Do you have any new ideas that you are pursuing? Would you suggest working alone or on a team? etc.
Really, I’d like to ask you some of the same questions! You’re on your way (I dunno, maybe you’ve already made it!) I want to know about you!
Hey Chris, maybe I should have you come sit next to me in one of these interviews! I did ask him what he is doing now and where did he got the idea.
I’m just getting started and have a long way to go. Certainly I have not made it yet, but am proud to be where I currently am.
Sarah, I think you were the perfect person to interview him. Though as the commenters above were saying you did seem a little out of it, glad you feel better. Maybe you should post on your blog some “behind the scenes” of this interview.
@Sarah
Glad to hear you’re feeling better, you’re a trooper for still getting the interview done!
The reason i watch sarah meyer is because of the awkwardness. Without this i wouldnt be watching. I could just watch some boring proffesional interviewers around the net but Sarah is just soo damn funny because of the way she interviews. Please do not change! Or i will be forced to eat your ear.
oh and just letting you know the reason i started watching you also is because of the leah culver interview. After you said “why are you a girl?” to Leah, i laughed for about 20 minutes and couldnt stop. From that moment i became a Sarah Meyer fan. MORE INTERVIEWS LIKE THAT PLEASE!!!
@Tim that was so funny. I will have to track down the picture and blog about it some time. Remind me to mention you too!
It makes me so happy when I see younger people make it at a young age, I wish Jake Jarvis all the luck in this world.
