Interview with Blip.tv CEO
Tuesday, April 8th, 2008
Today I walked a gasping one full block from our new office in Soho to blip.tv to interview Mike Hudack and check out his new office. While I was there, I got a chance to meet the blip team and see where they make the magic happen.
Mike Hudack is 24 years old, never graduated High School, and one of the most intelligent and impressive guys I’ve met. He and his team have grown the site into one of the leading video hosting platforms out there, especially for independent serial shows online.
Blip.tv offers many ways to customize a player for hosting and also features content on their home page to give artists more exposure to a wider audience. In turn, many people return to blip to discover fresh new content, like Vimby, MobLogic and The All For Nots.

Great Interview! Glad you didn’t get stuck in the elevator.
I never knew Mike didn’t graduate high school. Definitely comes off older then he is!
Insightful interview Sarah, Keep it up!
@Tim Street, it was a little shaky frightening!
@Tim Street, wow, thanks for writing about me :)
@Rob Sandie, I know! He comes off much older than he is. :)
(wow I don’t usually comment 3 x in a row on my video, but I’m just so excited I go comment happy) Follow me on cocomment and you will know what I mean. rofl!
Nice work! I have to say I’m a big fan of Blip.
Sarah, I’m curious, what sold you on Viddler over, say, Blip?
CJ, I’m actually going to start putting my videos on blip. I actually just got an account on tubemogul and have been uploading there. They send out your videos to all the video hosting sites including blip and viddler.
I think that blip does the best job at featuring shows and letting others find them. They have so many shows it’s like one large directory of good content.
wow could I actually say actually more? Jeeze.
MH IS A ROCK STAR so are u SM :) I on the other hand am a talent show runner up :)!
is it my imagination, or when they two were sitting on the couch…there was chemistry there?
how does a founder, that’s not a highschool grad!…receive VC/angel funding?
@Gary Vaynerchuk, lol, If you want to get into it here we go: you are a ball of joy and a blast to be around. How did your parents do such a fine job raising you?
Sarah,
Cool interview. What is great with Pop17 with your interview we could discover new startup and the vision of their founder. After the watching of the video, I can discover the product. Cool.
How will you interview the CEO of Flock ? Because thie social browser is a killer application that I use every day
Great interview, Sarah. :)
I didn’t know Rocketboom was that nearby. You’re about to start a videoblogging neighborhood down there. :)

We are super close so stop by and say hi! Thanks for blogging about it @Bill Cammack.
@Arno, Flock would be good. If you could please recommend more people to interview in the New York Area that would be great!
that was theee best show, very well done
His comment about economy of scarcity is an interesting one. Currently only 20% of the world has Internet access. (http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm) so the market for attention still has room to grow exponentially in the coming years. Tied to that though is the thought that tat other 80% will want to get their face out there as well, further inundating the Internet with content—not at all a bad thing.
@Grant, I can’t wait for more people to come online. I’m also excited about the switch from analogue to digital. Thanks for the link to internet world stats. I’m learning new things in the comments everyday and find the comments with links provide a diverse learning experience and that’s what pop17 is all about.
@Ali- the best show EVER!!! That’s what I like to hear. hehehe.
I love Mike Hudack. And I am *in love* with him.
