Interview with Blip.tv CEO

Today I walked a gasping one full block from our new office in Soho to blip.tv to interview Mike Hudack and check out his new office. While I was there, I got a chance to meet the blip team and see where they make the magic happen.

Mike Hudack is 24 years old, never graduated High School, and one of the most intelligent and impressive guys I’ve met. He and his team have grown the site into one of the leading video hosting platforms out there, especially for independent serial shows online.

Blip.tv offers many ways to customize a player for hosting and also features content on their home page to give artists more exposure to a wider audience. In turn, many people return to blip to discover fresh new content, like Vimby, MobLogic and The All For Nots.

Nice work! I have to say I’m a big fan of Blip.

Sarah, I’m curious, what sold you on Viddler over, say, Blip?

  7. sarah April 8th, 2008 at 11:59 pm

CJ, I’m actually going to start putting my videos on blip. I actually just got an account on tubemogul and have been uploading there. They send out your videos to all the video hosting sites including blip and viddler.

I think that blip does the best job at featuring shows and letting others find them. They have so many shows it’s like one large directory of good content.

@Gary Vaynerchuk, lol, If you want to get into it here we go: you are a ball of joy and a blast to be around. How did your parents do such a fine job raising you?

    Sarah,

Cool interview. What is great with Pop17 with your interview we could discover new startup and the vision of their founder. After the watching of the video, I can discover the product. Cool.

  18. Grant April 9th, 2008 at 12:31 pm

His comment about economy of scarcity is an interesting one. Currently only 20% of the world has Internet access. (http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm) so the market for attention still has room to grow exponentially in the coming years. Tied to that though is the thought that tat other 80% will want to get their face out there as well, further inundating the Internet with content—not at all a bad thing.

  19. Sarah April 9th, 2008 at 4:40 pm

@Grant, I can’t wait for more people to come online. I’m also excited about the switch from analogue to digital. Thanks for the link to internet world stats. I’m learning new things in the comments everyday and find the comments with links provide a diverse learning experience and that’s what pop17 is all about.

  20. Sarah April 9th, 2008 at 4:41 pm

@Ali- the best show EVER!!! That’s what I like to hear. hehehe.
