I have received several emails asking what equipment I use to make my daily show so I thought I would show you how it’s done in today’s episode.

My set has low budget basics including lighting, microphone and a HDV camera.

Firstb post! Awesome episode Sarah, and i like how you mentioned your sponsors in this episode. Please make more of the funny interviews like you did with Leah culver at “girls in tech” Cheers!

Very interesting episode as usual. So you can transport all your material in a bag ? Could you write the video editing software that you use to edit this video episode and where you can find it ?
I wonder if I will launch my own video blogging episode, because in France there is not so much video blogger at all.

  3. anaj March 20th, 2008 at 1:38 am

Could you probably release a transcript of this vlog post? I couldn’t always understand you, and like ArnoTech above, the software name also escaped me.

Where do you film? It looks like a office of some kind. Who’s office? How many people are on your ‘team’ and how are they paid?

    Another great episode!

Sarah, really like your show, great work!
This episode really inspires me, I’m always want to make a video blog.
As I have experienced different cultures, and now working in Shanghai, really want to make a video blog about the life of expats in Shanghai. Could you give me some ideas? Which mirophone will you recommend? Do you make this show by your own, or do you have a partner?

  6. Chris March 20th, 2008 at 8:40 am

Awesome. I’ll be passing this link on to an aspiring video blogger in my family! I agree with an earlier post, though - when you walked from the “set”, we lost a product name. Maybe you can list the products in a reply.

So now you’re going to cost me $5K in setup and software… I have to buy those toys.

@Tim, thanks for your comment and I’m #7!!! w00t!. Leah Culver and I did that video for PR2.0 with Brian Solis. She’s drinking wine in it or something… Thanks about the video. I just wanted to answer all your questions. :-)

Hey Sean, I do have a partner. This is a joint venture with Rocketboom. I’m breaking that news in this comment. :-)

what about the music? did someone compose original music for your show?

  13. sarah March 20th, 2008 at 6:26 pm

@Mostly Lisa, the song in this video is from Archive dot org. Some music is from there, garage band and CD’s I have the copyright to.

Sarah, can you tell me about the title, Pop17? I’m intrigued because Jan’ 17th is my birthday. So, where does the 17 come from?

    Vinnie

  16. BryanSays March 22nd, 2008 at 2:08 pm

Sarah, you mentioned some software you used to upload your videos. What were titles again? Foogu and transit is what it sounded like. I didn’t see them listed in your show notes. Good video by the way for those starting out in video.

  17. sarah March 22nd, 2008 at 8:55 pm

@Bryan, Transmit and Fugu is a free way to upload files to your server. Mediatemple is a good server if you are looking for one.

    #17 w00t!

    Sarah,

Which computer do you use to edit your videos with? Since you use Final Cut Pro, I was wondering if any mac will run that program efficiently or do you need one with a separate video card unlike the macbook.

    Thanks,

    Tommy

  19. sarah March 23rd, 2008 at 12:15 pm

@Tommy I edit on my MacBook Pro laptop wile doing a million other things at the same time. I would recommend editing with a a laptop and a G5 if you can afford it.

Sarah, Congrats on your awesome show. Thanks for sharing what it takes to put together one of your episodes. Can you also tell us how many people it takes to put an episode together? And do you have a videographer you regularly take on the road with you or do you use a tripod?

    Thanks!
