    ;))

  2. Patrick December 1st, 2008 at 2:08 am

Wow, I didn’t realize Dane Cook’s origins on the web. Very interesting. Thanks.

  3. sarah December 1st, 2008 at 2:23 am

I actually found out that Dane Cook first became internet successful in an article in the Rolling Stone Magazine in 2005. He was the Bo Burnham of today then and look at him now. I have an interesting comment about him that Jimmy says best. brb while I go get it.

  4. sarah December 1st, 2008 at 2:25 am

Got it. This comes from @jimmyrabbitte

There’s no question that Dane built a sizable following through the internet, but I don’t think that’s why many comedians have a problem with him. I think the problem is that he steals his material from other, better comedians. Which is too bad, because his early material was fresh and (somewhat) funny.

I’m hesitant to attribute Lily’s initial success to anything but nepotism. She’s definitely found a way to stay in the public eye, but the first boost onto a label was no Cinderella Story.

  5. tommylane December 1st, 2008 at 6:09 am

I didn’t know that about Dane Cook or Lily Allen. It just goes to show that If you’re good enough you can be very successful if your market yourself in the right places on the internet.

    Thanks for another informative episode.

Why did your mods permanently ban me from your room? I didn’t say nothing bad. I requested to be unbanned 2 weeks ago and you aren’t lifting a finger to help. It was a good comment. Thanks. Now I won’t be going into your room anymore. What’s the point.

    Loading the chat room…
Sorry, you are banned from this chat room.

  26. funtime7777 December 2nd, 2008 at 10:21 pm

Hi Sarah. First of all I’m not mad about the mod situation, but it’s funny that I and a couple others have been mods for over a year and have not had any problems up until recently. I know you have to make it fair, but remember what happened with that link. Those are the things you maybe getting negitive comments about in the future. Mods do serve a purpose.
Oh, and it was kind of nice to watch you instead of the chat.. lol Take care. :)

  27. Cihan December 2nd, 2008 at 10:28 pm

Nice and interesting work. I like it.

  28. Sarah December 3rd, 2008 at 12:06 am

Hi funtime7777 you are right about the link. That was crude. I’m going to need my mods back, but I want to make sure that all my mods double check to make sure they are silencing the right person. Too many are getting kicked out as the wrong person because the chat moves too fast. I need to make it fair to everyone and bring back mods who can do it right. Ya know?

  29. Sarah December 3rd, 2008 at 12:07 am

@liesforliars do you recommend a security software for us to use?

  30. Funtime7777 December 3rd, 2008 at 1:14 am

I totally agree Sarah, good luck. :)

  31. Spectator December 3rd, 2008 at 3:07 am

Hey Sarah, we use Nod32 for our online team and it keeps both mail and web baddies away. Is the best we have found to bounce trojans, bad web-scripts, malware etc etc Here’s a link:
    http://www.eset.com

    Someone else might have alternatives.

  32. Spectator December 3rd, 2008 at 3:09 am

I should add, we use Nod32 on the team’s PCs. I’m using macbook pro here but don’t use Nod32 on this machine.

  33. Cihan December 3rd, 2008 at 8:26 am

Hey Sarah, I’d recommend Kaspersky AntiVirus, and Sygate Personal Firewall for Windows. If thats a Mac, you can use Norton AntiVirus or Norton Internet Security. Just activate the firewall and auto-update your AntiVirus software.

  34. Oscar December 3rd, 2008 at 11:22 am

Check the Zone Alarm Firewall by zone labs, to protect from intruders, and Ad Aware for the Spyware. Sorry Sarah, but you are impredecible hehe =).

  35. liesforliars December 3rd, 2008 at 11:28 am

    norton 360 FTW Sarah

  36. Sarah December 3rd, 2008 at 11:31 am

I’ll investigate these. So you know, I am posting these comments on the home page. Thanks!

  37. Spectator December 3rd, 2008 at 2:25 pm

Just a note re Norton, we have always found it slows PCs down. Has that been the experience of others too?

  38. Sarah December 3rd, 2008 at 2:39 pm

I’d like to know since I’m a PC and Mac user. I like both, but want to know what is best for my computers.

  39. Cihan December 3rd, 2008 at 3:29 pm

Avira AntiVir Personal, Ad-Aware and Sygate Personal Firewall are very good softwares and they are free. Avira AntiVir is one of the bests, Sygate Firewall asks permission for everything that wants to connect to the internet. Kaspersky Antivirus and Zone Alarm Firewall are also very good alternatives.

  40. Sarah December 3rd, 2008 at 3:30 pm

    Awesome!

  41. Troy December 3rd, 2008 at 3:51 pm

    Hi Sarah,
The reason people are complaining about your mods is becuase you are a more of a celebrity than most people on JTV. And people are getting permanently banned instead of time-outs. There was no excuse for accidentally getting banned because sometimes your room is in slow-mode. Sorry, but I have a few friends still are banned from your room for nothing and are upset. Profiles are tied to the IP address, so even if you change your name, you still are banned from the chat. Sarah, you need to go to your ban list in your profile and clear your ban list, otherwise, you still might get complaints. Have a nice day

  42. Sarah December 3rd, 2008 at 3:53 pm

Oh I have a ban list? I’ll go look for it. In the meantime, watch this video I just favorited:

  43. Spectator December 3rd, 2008 at 3:54 pm

I agree with Cihan, Avira AntiVir Personal is the best freely available system I’ve found too. I found it a little light on trojans tho. That’s where Ad-Aware and even Spy Blaster used in tandem help keep trojans away. In the end tho, we switched to Nod32 because a few problems snuck through the net. Have been without a sneeze since (two years now)

  44. Sarah December 3rd, 2008 at 3:55 pm

    I don’t see a ban list.

  45. Spectator December 3rd, 2008 at 3:58 pm

Woooo someone send some meds to EmptysAwesome! Ha!

  46. Oscar December 3rd, 2008 at 6:31 pm

In your channel go to settings/Channel/Chat–banned list.

You can ban words too, to unban type /unban (username)

Also u can ban disagradable words! ;-)

  47. An Ewok December 3rd, 2008 at 11:35 pm

Oh no!! you with mustache no pls! who made that? grrr!

  48. Sarah December 3rd, 2008 at 11:37 pm

    Ha! It was Walt!

  49. An Ewok December 4th, 2008 at 12:01 am

    Ha! Good nights! ;)

  50. Sarah December 4th, 2008 at 1:24 am

    you too

  51. Cihan December 4th, 2008 at 12:10 pm

I don’t agree with a comment on YouTube. You don’t need to loosen up. Your presentation is very good. I like seeing your face expressions. You can also add extra fun to make your videos better.

  52. Sarah December 4th, 2008 at 12:27 pm

Yea, I’ll be adding some extra fun in my next video. I totally know what he means tho. It’s the desk… yea…

  53. Spectator December 4th, 2008 at 4:43 pm

Hey Sarah, your presentation is natural to yourself. And you are already mixing it around from what I can see. Like your recent interview in the park or forest. That was ALIVE and really cool. And sometimes the desk is vital too! Just a note of reassurance really… you are doing pretty darn good! Your audience would suggest that’s the case too. See U!
