My readers are the best readers! I love you guys! Thanks goes to Pablo Faja for sending in this logo. I’m not going to use it, but I’m so happy you did this for me!

Letter from a reader in regards to my blog post about Seashore and this photo.
…isn’t quite the tool you need for the job I’m afraid. The thing it
lacks which you need for the tint job is the ability to make selection
masks & then use a dodge/burn tool to lighten the area little by
little. The best you could hope for in seashore might be to select the
hair area, create a layer that’s the right shape, and fill it with a
blonde sort of colour. Then you could change the opacity so that the
original texture showed through, but it’d look funny because the
selection tools aren’t quite up to it either.
The app you need is GIMP (http://www.gimp.org) of which various
mac-friendly versions exist. There were reports of these being broken
by Leopard because they went from X11 to X.org, and the one on my MBP
is – I didn’t get round to updating all the required libraries – but I
hear the latest builds work great. GIMP’s free too, and is a much more
full-on replacement for Photoshop. :-)
I’ll have a go at doing it myself if I can stay awake (it’s just past
midnight here in the UK) & if I manage it I’ll email you the finished
product plus a bullet-point narrative of how it was done.
Regards,
Matt Moran
I’m thinking about giving up on the project. This is the closest picture to blond, but still doesn not look natural. Thanks for your hard work on this project.
