Kyle Macdonald is one of the most recognized internet celebrities in the world. He put an ad on Craigslist with a dream of trading one red paperclip for something bigger and better. First he traded for a fish pen, then he traded his fish pen for a doorknob, the doorknob for a camping stove…all the way up to a house. Now he’s published a book on how he did it in only 14 trades. Also help Kyle find out who these guys are at who are these guys dot com.

wow i think that guy is ace, i read about him a while ago, but never followed his story, i would love to do something similar, but i highly doubt i can be as successful as him.

has kyle or ne1 any advice on where are good places to make your swaps and what are good swapping items

Did kyle exclusivly use craigs list? I thought about using craigs list but the UK version is no where near as good as the American version, is it possible to have your message posted to the whole country rather than a single city?

Over the past year of being involved with social networks, blogging and general web 2.0 goodness, I have found pariodies to be very successfull. I am tempted to parody “one red paper clip” with “one blue paper clip” just to see what happens, it would be interesting to see how sucessful I can be. I would not be attempting to be a successful as kyle I am just interested in how far I can take this
