I'm not so sure about media storage offline. Hasn't the trend with the web been online storage? Just seems to me people are getting lazier so why go through the effort of storing media using another resource that might cost money or involve more time and maintenance.

I put my videos on my external hard drive, but I need to back it up soon by burning them to DVD. That way I will always have a copy. It doesn't take up too much space. My question is should I go to blu ray instead?

CJ, I have to disagree with you on that one. I look around at my house - we probably have 100 DVD movies, and 100+ hours of video of kids and stuff.

And it'll only grow. Not sure why we feel the need to "own our own copy", but it's probably (somehow) the same mentality that keeps most Americans in cars instead of in mass transit. (i.e. if it's cheap enough to own your own copy, the convenience and security is worth the price.)

But what do I know.

Sarah, opinion?

That's an interesting take on the future of video. Personally, I can't see people (i.e. myself) ever storing video clips offline like music. The trend to move software from the hard-drive to the web (PhotoShop Express comes to mind) underscores in my mind, the shift to make off-line a thing of the past. Then again, I'm pretty sure Mr. Plesser has waay more knowledge than I do on the subject.

Anyway, great stuff.

And music is cool too, but the two of them together is even better! Almost as good as a love film like the one Andy made.
