I think one of the major causes of problems like these are the lack of person-to-person attention. If someone has a problem at home, work or school, they may turn to anything to solve their problem. Sad enough some of them don’t turn to proper help (church members, psychiatrists, trusted adults) and turn to an Internet full of strangers who can easily claim anonymity or a false identity. A predator-minded person can take advantage of anybody’s desperation by saying what someone wants to hear instead of things as they really are; warping reality.

In today’s economy especially, hiring is a very selective process. Employers want to make sure the person they hire is quality. One of the ways they check this out is to Google your name and see what pops up. Obviously, if you have anything questionable on there, employers will be a lot less likely to hire you.

The times are changing, and as tech improves so must our awareness of it’s potential dangers. School is the primary place where you learn about stranger danger, so I’d definitely like to see schools jump on the ball about the dangers of putting your info online, and who you talk to.
