Great content in todays show. It is important like Dean says to be aware of the information your comany and business will read. Think if you wouldn't want your mom or boss to see it then it's best not to post anything. Facebook tags are the worst.

One of the leaders at my church did a talk about the potential pitfalls of Social Networking and about 17:35 into the speech he warned about how online relationships in almost any form could "disconnect [people] from things as they really are" while striping away the experiences that only come from person-to-person attention.

I think one of the major causes of problems like these are the lack of person-to-person attention. If someone has a problem at home, work or school, they may turn to anything to solve their problem. Sad enough some of them don't turn to proper help (church members, psychiatrists, trusted adults) and turn to an Internet full of strangers who can easily claim anonymity or a false identity. A predator-minded person can take advantage of anybody's desperation by saying what someone wants to hear instead of things as they really are; warping reality.

Great episode (except my speakers is now blown due to that scream)....Oh my, how a teenager can be so manipulated by such a bad person--kids, please beware! Also, do not reveal personal information online. Do not post that you are going out of town for a week --(might make your house/apartment vulnerable to burglary).
I do worry about my kids, but at the same time I want them to take full advantage of the internet's ease of communicaiton and useful information. Common sense, people. Also, assume any employer is reading your posts as well--be careful--no need to get fired!

Well, another danger I can think of applies more to adults than as far as kids go. Which is about being careful how you present yourself online as far as which pictures and videos you put up.

In today's economy especially, hiring is a very selective process. Employers want to make sure the person they hire is quality. One of the ways they check this out is to Google your name and see what pops up. Obviously, if you have anything questionable on there, employers will be a lot less likely to hire you.

Well Sarah, I really liked this show. You talked about a really interesting topic.
It's hard to get people to know what are the risks of being online. We don't have to be scared, but aware of what we do. If you put your name online, people searching for you will sure find you. If you create a profile in any social network, you're already agreeing that what you do there will be visible to not only you but your friends (and maybe people you don't know) too.
Privacy is not only a legal matter!
Your show was very nice! It was great to listen your opinion and experiences. Internet safety is a big subject, I hope you talk about this again in the future!

Great video and a message that should be spread to all kids venturing onto the internet. Here is a video that shows how easily it is to give personal information out without even realizing you're doing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZHq4CQekTY

Very good topic today! Online safety is an issue that I think people should definitely be more aware of.

The times are changing, and as tech improves so must our awareness of it's potential dangers. School is the primary place where you learn about stranger danger, so I'd definitely like to see schools jump on the ball about the dangers of putting your info online, and who you talk to.

OMG! That screem! I wasn't expecting it, and I had the volume up. I think I popped an ear drum. Any-who, great show Sarah, we will try and catch the new one next week. The whole hiking and backpacking show I think would work, but I'd be concerned about the Internet connection.
                        later...
