I can’t believe people are beating people for using the web!

  2. tonant says:

Maybe the Chinese military are studying these “addiction” effects in the hope of developing a new media weapon?

  3. sarah says:

maybe they just want to control the population

  4. Meukal says:

That’s hella crazy! I would never beat anyone to use the web, that is of course if that person doesn’t steal my iPhone or mac, other than that, I’m cool.

  5. tonant says:

All joking aside, in the end it doesn’t seem so surprising that this type of addiction is prevalent.

Media controls in China have always been considerable, IP is likely the only really rich non Chinese cultural input available to these folks.

What is really interesting is the Chinese Army picking up rehab bill. I can’t but help but think there is an ulterior motive for this :)

  6. Sarah says:

Well these people remind me of the KKK. Everyone in the US is joking about being addicted, but what if this sort of thing started to happen in the US?

What do you mean, “IP is likely the only really rich non Chinese cultural input available to these folks.”??

  7. tonant says:

Have you been to China? My experience is that there is very little external media avaialble, especially outside Shanghai and Bejing.

  8. sarah says:

I have not been to China. I’ll take your word.
