Style X: Fashion at SXSW for the First Time

After 24 years of SXSW, fashion finally makes an official appearance. This week’s events dubbed “Style X” is debuting Friday March 18th at the convention center. This event will not only showcase fashion forward style experts, brands and designers from Austin, but from all over the world as well. Style is a very organic fit for music, interactive and film so I welcome this addition with open arms. There will be a pop-up retail experience in the convention center along [...]

SXSW is #Winning This Year. Foursquare is Playing Foursquare, the Happiness Bus and the Apple Pop Up Store

South By Southwest is awesome. It’s the yearly excuse for us nerdy, geeky people to convince our bosses into sending us on a “business trip” to Austin once a year, when really what we’re doing is partying like it’s 1999 spring break. Here are some of the coolest things I’ve seen during my first 24 hours in Austin. The expo hall may be slightly overwhelming but once you pass the crowds of people and get to the the exhibitor booths [...]

Video: Backstage from Microsoft’s IE9 Concert / Launch Party

Microsoft did a great job promoting the launch of IE9 as they threw their newest browser into the mix. Complete with drinks, a great crowd, a fantastic venue, live music, and above all else free popcorn — this was a great success. Here’s a short clip of Yeasayer closing out the house last night. Shot from my undercover iPhone 4 backstage because that’s how we roll at Pop17.

Recap of interactive day four: a few of my new favorite startups from #SXSW

With so many startups in the mix at SXSW this year it’s really hard to pick and choose. Here are some of the companies that deserve a mention that I had the pleasure of getting to know a little better today. Appconomy- Appconomy recently launched the Grouped{in} app. Even though this year has been dubbed as the year of “group messaging,” this app stands its ground amongst fierce competition as being the group messaging app for your business and personal [...]

All Drama Aside, It Was Good To See Women Represented At TechCrunch Disrupt 2010

*photo credit: TechCrunch I spent part of my lunch break at Disrupt today reading a recent post by Michael Arrington titled Too Few Women In Tech? Stop Blaming The Men. This post was written as a response to Rachel Sklar‘s statement about TechCrunch playing a part in perpetrating the under-representation of women in the tech industry: “Part of changing the ratio is just changing awareness, so that the next time TechCrunch is planning a TechCrunch Disrupt, they won’t be able to [...]

  • Developing Your Facebook Presence: Best Practices from the Facebook PR team (Part 1)

Developing Your Facebook Presence: Best Practices from the Facebook PR team (Part 1)

Facebook is currently one of the fastest growing social media platforms on the internet (just surpassing 500 million users this week) and I was delighted to find out I was invited to an afternoon with the Facebook PR team at Facebook HQ this past week. The topic for this afternoon was best practices. With the site expanding at astronomical rates, new products being added daily (Facebook allows publishers to contact “likers” as of today) and more and more brands trying [...]
